Travesti House In Montreal

Why do we say smoke as a turkish? A

The origin of this proverb is uncertain, the most likely dates from the second half of sixteenth century. At that time reigned in Turkey Pasha extremely severe against the consumption of coffee and tobacco, deemed to be dangerous drugs. Consumers of coffee and tobacco were pursued hard (one of the penalties was the cutting of the nose ...) and coffee shops destroyed. Once dead the oppressor Pasha, the Turks returned to drink coffee and smoke, even excessively so, as a reaction to the ban immediately. Hence the saying: smoking as a turkish, meaning to smoke excessively.
